Have you heard?

Ascend WV is making it easier than ever to turn your dream of homeownership in West Virginia into a reality. With our Accelerated Stipend Option, you can receive the remainder of your $12,000 stipend in a lump sum when you purchase a home for your primary residence in West Virginia.

How It Works

Who’s Eligible?

This option is available to both new award winners and current Ascend members who have purchased an owner-occupied home in West Virginia and still have remaining checks to receive.

What You’ll Receive:

If you qualify, you’ll receive the remaining balance of your $12,000 stipend in one lump sum, helping you plant roots in Almost Heaven.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Accelerated Stipend Option, you must meet the following criteria:

  1. Purchase of a Primary Residence in West Virginia:

You must have purchased a home in West Virginia that is your primary, owner-occupied residence. The home cannot be used as a second home, vacation home, or rental property. You are required to live in the home for the duration of your Ascend WV Program agreement.

  2. Meet Ascend Program expectations:

You must remain in good standing with the Ascend WV program as outlined in the program agreement.

  3. Attend qualifying Ascend Event:

Participation in an Ascend orientation or a qualifying event or activity as determined by Ascend WV.

  4. No Income from the Property:

The home must not generate any income, meaning it cannot be rented out or used for commercial purposes. Using your home for your remote office or remotely operated business does not affect eligibility.

How to Apply

If you’ve purchased a home and would like to fast-track the rest of your stipend payments, follow these steps:

  1. Review and Sign the Amendment

  1. Provide Proof of Residency: You will need to submit two forms of proof showing that your home is a primary, owner-occupied residence in West Virginia. Acceptable documents include mortgage documents, a certified copy of a deed, or homeowner insurance documents for the primary residence.

  1. Receive Your Lump Sum Payment: If you qualify, your remaining stipend balance will be issued as a check. This may take up to 45 days to process at which time you can pick it up at the next available check disbursement.
