Standing with Western North Carolina After Hurricane Helene

Hurricane Helene left a path of devastation across Western North Carolina, and our hearts are with everyone affected. As people begin to pick up the pieces, we’ve seen an outpouring of support and generosity from our members, as well as others looking for ways to help. It’s a powerful reminder of how strong this community is when we come together.

On Slack, members have been sharing ways to help—from donation drives to volunteer opportunities. Here are a few highlights:

  • Ashley Eklin in the Eastern Panhandle shared a list of drop-off locations for essential supplies (NC 211 Donation Sites).

  • Megan O'Reilly in the Eastern Panhandle highlighted a supply drive led by Calleva Outdoors. If you want to pitch in, Venmo donations to @Calleva_laks (last 4 digits: 8768) to support their relief mission in Saluda, NC.

  • Karina Escalante in the New River Gorge shared that Rocky Mountain Raft Warehouse in Oak Hill is accepting donations for NC relief efforts.

  • Josh Dunbar in the New River Gorge shared a link to support the Appalachia Service Project, a local group providing direct aid and supplies to the hardest-hit communities (Appalachia Strong Fundraiser).

It’s inspiring to see our community taking action and offering support in so many ways. If you know of other efforts or want to share what’s happening locally, drop a comment below or post in your local Slack channels. Every bit helps as we support our neighbors in Western North Carolina.

💪 Thanks to everyone who’s already stepped up - together, we’re making a real difference.
